                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 135
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 recognize the San Antonio chapter of the National Association of
 Women in Construction as it observes Women in Construction Week
 March 3 through 9, 2013; and
 WHEREAS, The San Antonio chapter is one of nearly 140
 chapters nationwide and is among the largest in the country; its
 members include general contractors, architects, project
 managers, and suppliers, all of whom will celebrate the 55th
 anniversary of the San Antonio chapter this August; and
 WHEREAS, Women in Construction Week was established to
 increase the profile of this vital segment of the industry and to
 share resources among women in the business; and
 WHEREAS, The National Association of Women in Construction
 began in 1953 in Fort Worth; originally a network for 16 charter
 members, it has become a national force that today champions the
 nearly 800,000 women who work in American construction; and
 WHEREAS, The San Antonio chapter works tirelessly to carry
 out the mission of this esteemed organization; its activities
 promote opportunity for its members and create awareness of the
 varied roles women play in the construction industry, and its
 leaders strive to ensure parity and deserved recognition for
 these dedicated women; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
 83rd Legislature, hereby commend the San Antonio chapter of the
 National Association of Women in Construction and extend to its
 members best wishes for Women in Construction Week; and, be it
 further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 them as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
