SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 142 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Quality Seafood Market in Austin on the occasion of its 75th anniversary; and WHEREAS, Quality Seafood Market began operation in 1938 when Garnett Lenz opened a fish counter inside John Starr's Fruit and Vegetable Market in downtown Austin; the thriving business soon outgrew its home in the corner of the vegetable market and moved to a series of locations across the city; and WHEREAS, Quality Seafood Market moved into its current location on Airport Boulevard in 1970; it had by that time expanded to include three separate facets, the original retail market, a fry kitchen preparing to-go orders, and a wholesale operation that served local restaurants; and WHEREAS, Over the years, the business has continued to grow, and today it features a full-service restaurant in addition to its other offerings; a recent expansion doubled the size of the business, increasing its ability to offer a wider variety of dishes to its customers while maintaining the quirky design elements that have made it a local landmark; and WHEREAS, Quality Seafood Market has been a favorite of Austinites for generations, and it is truly fitting that it be recognized as it achieves this milestone in its history; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby commend Quality Seafood Market on its legacy of providing excellent value and service and extend best wishes for a memorable 75th anniversary celebration; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for this exemplary establishment as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
