SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 157 In Memory of Mary Wiley Faxel WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens of Fort Worth in mourning the loss of Mary Wiley "Dee" Faxel, who died January 22, 2013, at the age of 91; and WHEREAS, Mary Wiley was born October 8, 1921, in Houston; she attended The University of Texas, where she was a member of the Delta Gamma fraternity; and WHEREAS, Through the years, she was active in a number of social and philanthropic organizations, including the Junior League, the Assembly, the Fort Worth Club, and the Shady Oaks, River Crest, and Ridglea Country Clubs; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Faxel served the Fort Worth community with distinction as a member of the boards of All Saints Hospital, Goodwill Industries, Planned Parenthood, and the Lena Pope Home; she played an important role in the initial construction of, and additions to, All Saints Episcopal Church, and she and her husband founded the Faxel Endowment for Nurses; and WHEREAS, A woman of courage, strength, and compassion, she gave unselfishly to others, and her playful sense of humor, her generous spirit, and her enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest will not be forgotten; and WHEREAS, She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and she leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by her family and countless friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Mary Wiley Faxel: her husband, Ralph E. Faxel; her children, Lee Wiley Moncrief and Michael J. Moncrief; her stepchildren, Ralph E. Faxel, Jr., and Tara Douglas; and her 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Mary Wiley Faxel.
