SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 159 In Memory of Joe H. Edwards WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and commemorates the life of Joe H. Edwards, who died January 18, 2013, at the age of 74; and WHEREAS, Joe Edwards was born May 15, 1938, to Joe Howard Edwards and Mamie King Edwards; he served the nation with distinction in the armed forces, with two tours of duty with the United States Army and one with the United States Air Force; and WHEREAS, Mr. Edwards enjoyed a fulfilling, 35-year career with Bell Helicopter Textron as a production control specialist and took part in retiree events for many years after he left the company; he was a proud member of the United Auto Workers Local 317; and WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and compassion, he gave generously to others, and his wisdom, warmth, and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who were privileged to share in his life; and WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Joe H. Edwards: his wife, Shirley Edwards; his daughter, Jackie Jo Edwards; his stepchildren, Sherill Hensley and Steven Sitz; and his granddaughter, Amanda Beauchamp; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Joe Edwards.
