SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 176
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
honor physical therapists and physical therapist assistants
across the state and recognize February 12, 2013, as Texas
Physical Therapy Day; and
WHEREAS, The health and safety of all Texans are of
paramount importance in our state and it is indeed appropriate to
recognize those professionals who contribute to a high quality
health care system by providing necessary rehabilitative
services; and
WHEREAS, The goals of physical therapy are to improve the
quality of life and the physical well-being of people of all
ages; physical therapists play an essential role in the promotion
of optimal health for all citizens of Texas through the treatment
and prevention of disease and injury; and
WHEREAS, Across Texas, more than 18,500 physical
therapists and physical therapist assistants treat an estimated
100,000 Texans of all ages daily; members of the physical therapy
profession also make valuable contributions to the advancement
of physical therapy practice, research, and education to better
serve the public's health care needs; and
WHEREAS, Physical therapists have helped countless Texans
suffering from certain diseases or injuries to regain their
health, mobility, and independence, enabling them to return to
enjoying healthy and productive lives, and it is fitting that all
Texans acknowledge the valuable work carried out by these capable
and caring health care professionals; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
Legislature, hereby commend the physical therapists and physical
therapist assistants of this state for their important services
and recognize February 12, 2013, as Texas Physical Therapy Day;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as an
expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
