SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 181 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to join the Texas Historical Commission in recognizing Page Southerland Page, which has been named a recipient of the Texas Treasure Business Award; and WHEREAS, This prestigious award honors companies that have been in continuous and substantially similar independent operation in the state for at least 50 years with an uninterrupted employment history and good standing with the state; and WHEREAS, Page Southerland Page traces its roots to 1886, when Charles Henry Page moved with his family to Texas to work as a stonemason on the State Capitol; his son established an architectural practice in 1898, which quickly became one of the preeminent firms in the state; and WHEREAS, The company grew from its early emphasis on public works projects and developed into one of the nation's first integrated architectural and engineering design firms; today, it employs more than 500 design professionals around the world, and it has been ranked as the nation's 12th-largest architectural and engineering design firm; and WHEREAS, The success of Page Southerland Page has played an important role in the growth and progress of our state, and it is truly fitting that this exceptional enterprise be recognized for its resilience, its longevity, and its many outstanding contributions to the community it serves; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby commend Page Southerland Page on receiving the Texas Treasure Business Award and extend best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the company as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
