SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 213 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Mrs. Earnestine E. Hunt Morris on the grand occasion of her 90th birthday; and WHEREAS, This gracious lady is well known for her charm and generosity of spirit, and she is a revered resident of the Grace Presbyterian Village Assisted Living Facility in Dallas; and WHEREAS, Earnestine Morris was born August 2, 1923, in Longview; she grew up in Greggton and graduated from Shiloh High School; and WHEREAS, She served the nation with distinction during World War II as a member of the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps; she was one of the first African American women to serve in the medical corps during the war, and she received an honorable discharge in 1945; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Morris has raised four daughters, who have been a source of much pride and joy and who blessed her with nine grandchildren, who in turn have given her 15 great-grandchildren; and WHEREAS, She enjoyed a long and fulfilling career with Great Southwest Hospital in Grand Prairie, retiring as a unit clerk, and she has been active with the Carter Oliver seniors group; a devout Christian who practices her faith in her daily life, she is a member of Cliff View Church of Christ, where she participates in the Golden Age group; and WHEREAS, A beloved and respected member of her community, she is noted for her courage, her compassion for others, and her enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby extend best wishes to Earnestine E. Hunt Morris on her 90th birthday; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
