SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 262 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Susan Paynter, who is retiring from her longtime service with the Baptist General Convention of Texas; and WHEREAS, Suzii Paynter is retiring from the Baptist General Convention of Texas to become the executive coordinator of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship; she has served as the director of the convention's Christian Life Commission since 2006 and of its Advocacy and Care Center since 2011; and WHEREAS, A registered lobbyist for the Christian Life Commission, she leads efforts to address a variety of public policy areas, such as food policy, hunger, juvenile justice, and child and maternal nutrition; she is an active member of interfaith efforts to affect legislation and policy, and she has been recognized for her work by the Texas Legislature and by the North American Association of Christians in Social Work; and WHEREAS, She holds a doctor of humanities degree from Dallas Baptist University and has served on the faculties of Stephen F. Austin State University and Baylor University; she has been a longtime advocate for religious liberty issues, literacy, and early intervention for high-risk children; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby commend Susan Paynter on her outstanding accomplishments and her exceptional leadership on behalf of the Baptist General Convention of Texas and extend to her best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
