SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 264 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to welcome the registered nurses and licensed vocational nurses who are visiting the State Capitol as part of Nurse Day at the Capitol 2013; and WHEREAS, The 195,000 registered nurses and 80,000 licensed vocational nurses caring for Texans every day in hospitals, nursing homes, home health agencies and other settings are critical to the quality of health care provided in our state; and WHEREAS, Nurses are consistently rated by the Gallup Poll as highest in honesty and ethical standards of all professionals; and WHEREAS, The members of the Texas Nurses Association and the Licensed Vocational Nurses Association of Texas and the other Texas nursing organizations represented at the Capitol today share a mission of advocacy for excellence in care for their patients both at the bedside and in the public arena; and WHEREAS, Texas nurses deserve our respect, praise, and admiration for their commitment to bringing the highest quality of care to the citizens of this state and for their advocacy on behalf of their patients; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby proclaim February 26, 2013, as Nurse Day at the Capitol and commend all nurses for their invaluable service to this state; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in honor of the nursing profession as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
