SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 3 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the Lions Clubs across Central Texas for their many outstanding contributions to their communities; and WHEREAS, Central Texas Lions Clubs are an integral part of Lions Clubs International, which, with 1.35 million members in more than 45,000 clubs, is the world's largest service club organization; and WHEREAS, Drawing on Helen Keller's 1925 call to be "Knights of the Blind," Lions Clubs have throughout their history been best known for sponsoring and promoting programs that fight blindness; and WHEREAS, In addition to their work in this vital endeavor, Central Texas Lions Clubs have embraced a wide variety of other important causes, including scholarship fund-raising, children's camps, education, and youth sports; and WHEREAS, Central Texas Lions Clubs have had a profound impact on their communities, and they are truly deserving of recognition for their many exceptional achievements; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby commend the Central Texas Lions Clubs on their dedication and commitment and extend to them best wishes for continued success in all their endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the clubs as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
