SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 429
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the Georgetown High School Lady Eagles basketball
team, which recently won the 2013 Class 4A state championship
title; and
WHEREAS, The Lady Eagles won the school's first
championship in girls' basketball in more than 30 years by
defeating Lincoln High School from Dallas by a score of 65-60 in a
game that saw them capitalize on turnovers to overcome a fourth
quarter deficit; and
WHEREAS, These young athletes have demonstrated great
talent and perseverance over the course of the school year,
ending the season with a record of 34-4; team members can take
great pride in their outstanding performance; and
WHEREAS, Under the superior leadership and expertise of
four-time Central Texas Coach of the Year Rhonda Farney, the Lady
Eagles have developed exceptional teamwork and discipline; and
WHEREAS, Georgetown High School and the people of
Georgetown are proud of the Lady Eagles for their hard work,
their impressive skills, and their fine sportsmanship; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
Legislature, hereby commend the Georgetown High School Lady
Eagles on their successful season and extend congratulations to
them on winning the Class 4A state basketball championship; and,
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the team as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
