SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 458 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Concord Missionary Baptist Church as it christens its new sanctuary with an entrance service on March 31, 2013; and WHEREAS, Located in the Oak Cliff community of Dallas, this spacious new facility will accommodate a congregation of more than 3,000 people; its dedication is a joyful occasion for this devoted and dynamic flock; and WHEREAS, Members of Concord Missionary Baptist Church have reaped the rewards of their faith and diligence with the opening of this stellar sanctuary; and WHEREAS, The church traces its beginnings to 1975, when a young Reverend E. K. Bailey and 228 followers heeded the call to start a new ministry in the predominantly African American community of Oak Cliff; over the years, the church has grown and overcome challenges, and it has ministered to the needs of innumerable Christians; and WHEREAS, In its nearly four decades, Concord Missionary Baptist Church has launched and operated many outreach ministries, including the Concord Senior Center, the Concord Center for Biblical Studies, the Substance Abuse Ministry, and a satellite church in Haiti; and WHEREAS, This remarkable church community is indeed deserving of praise and recognition for its many accomplishments; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby commend the members of Concord Missionary Baptist Church as they celebrate the dedication of their new sanctuary and extend to them sincere best wishes in all their future endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the congregation as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
