SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 48
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the members of Leadership Lewisville on the occasion of
their visit to Austin on February 18 and 19, 2013; and
WHEREAS, Leadership Lewisville is sponsored by the
Lewisville Area Chamber of Commerce as part of the chamber's
Community Development Division; and
WHEREAS, Leadership Lewisville provides a unique
educational experience for those who participate in the program
and helps them develop their leadership skills; the program aims
to identify and motivate emerging leaders and help them acquire a
working knowledge of the community; and
WHEREAS, Among various other activities, the program
requires students to attend one school board meeting and one city
council meeting during the nine-month session; and
WHEREAS, The goals of the program are for participants to
learn about the inner workings of private and public institutions
and about how and where one might make effective contributions to
the community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
Legislature, hereby commend Leadership Lewisville for its
innovative and thorough approach to preparing citizens for
prominent roles in their community; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
Leadership Lewisville as an expression of esteem from the Texas
Senate.
