SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 493
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
join Houston's Azerbaijani American community and the
Azerbaijani Cultural Center in celebrating Novruz; and
WHEREAS, Novruz is a spring equinox holiday that
symbolizes the rebirth of nature and is rooted in more than 3,000
years of tradition; this important celebration is a vital part of
the heritage and culture of numerous populations, including the
Azerbaijani, Persian, Turkish, Parsi, and Afghan people; and
WHEREAS, In observance of this special holiday, a Novruz
Dinner Dance is being held March 22, 2013, at Demer's Banquet
Hall in Houston; and
WHEREAS, It is truly fitting that Texans join Azerbaijani
Americans and other ethnic groups in celebrating this important
occasion; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
83rd Legislature, hereby commend the Azerbaijani Cultural Center
on its many contributions to diversity and intercultural
understanding and extend to all participants best wishes for a
successful and memorable Novruz Dinner Dance; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
honor of this special event.
