SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 497
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the Texas
School Public Relations Association in observing March of 2013 as
Celebrate Texas Public Schools Month; and
WHEREAS, During this time, the administrators and staff
and faculty members of school districts across Texas host special
events, such as open houses, to honor our state's public schools; and
WHEREAS, Public education is a cornerstone in Texas
culture and in all prosperous societies; the belief that
educational opportunity should be free and available to all
children was the foundation of the early public school laws in
Texas; the heroes of our state's public school system are the
teachers, mentors, counselors, and administrators who help our
youth learn and mature; and
WHEREAS, These diligent educators shape the next
generation of Texans and enable them to set and reach educational
goals that will lay the foundation for their future successes; in
turn, those successes ensure a thriving future for all Texans;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
83rd Legislature, hereby commend Texas public schools and the
Texas School Public Relations Association and encourage the
school districts across our state to observe March as Celebrate
Texas Public Schools Month; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
honor of the Texas public schools as an expression of high regard
from the Texas Senate.
