SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 5 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Sheriff Milton T. Wright, who recently retired after 16 years of outstanding service as sheriff of Fort Bend County and a career in law enforcement that spanned five decades; and WHEREAS, Milton Wright was accepted to the Homer Garrison Law Enforcement Academy in 1961; he served as a state trooper with the Texas Department of Public Safety for 19 years in Dallas and Cameron; he also served as a Texas Ranger in Richmond for 15 years before becoming sheriff of Fort Bend County; and WHEREAS, Highly respected by his colleagues in his field, Sheriff Wright is well known for his longtime dedication to the law enforcement profession and for his extraordinary courage and leadership; and WHEREAS, Throughout his exceptional career, he manifested uncommon talent in managing the unique challenges of law enforcement duty, and as sheriff of Fort Bend County, he devoted his time and energy to protecting area citizens and providing them with a safe environment; Sheriff Wright is greatly admired by the Fort Bend County community, and he deserves recognition for his hard work and many accomplishments as the county's sheriff and for his contributions to his state; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby commend Sheriff Milton T. Wright on his outstanding career in law enforcement and his loyal service as sheriff of Fort Bend County and extend to him best wishes for the retirement years ahead; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
