SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 539 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the members of the Rowlett Citizen Corps Council on the occasion of the group's 10th anniversary on March 1, 2013; and WHEREAS, These dedicated men and women are committed to ensuring that the city of Rowlett has reliable and well-prepared emergency response teams; its members have contributed over 75,000 volunteer service hours, with a value of more than $1.6 million; and WHEREAS, The group's mission is to harness the power of Rowlett citizens through education, training, volunteerism, and support services; the programs sponsored by the council are designed to make the area safer, stronger, and better able to respond to crime, public health crises, acts of terrorism, and natural and manmade disasters; and WHEREAS, The Rowlett Citizen Corps Council sponsors six citizen corps programs, including the Rowlett Community Emergency Response Team, the Rowlett Fire Corps, the Rowlett Volunteers in Police Services, and the Rowlett Neighborhood Crime Watch; and WHEREAS, Since its inception, the group has trained 454 community emergency response team students; the organization's members have made it a priority to serve their community, and those members are indeed deserving of praise and recognition; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby commend the Rowlett Citizen Corps Council on the occasion of the organization's 10th anniversary and extend to its members sincere best wishes for success in all of the group's future endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the Rowlett Citizen Corps Council as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
