                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 542
 WHEREAS, On April 4, 5, and 6, 2013, members of the
 Association of the United States Army 4th Region are having their
 annual conference in Austin, Texas; and
 WHEREAS, Since 1950, the Association of the United States
 Army has worked to support all aspects of national security while
 advancing the interests of the army and the men and women who
 serve; and
 WHEREAS, The Association of the United States Army is a
 private nonprofit educational organization that supports all
 components of the nation's army, active, National Guard,
 Reserve, civilians, retirees, government civilians, wounded
 warriors, veterans, and family members, and provides numerous
 professional development opportunities at a variety of events
 both local and national; and
 WHEREAS, The Association of the United States Army
 represents every American soldier by being the voice for all
 components of America's army, fostering public support of the
 army's role in national security, and providing professional
 education and information programs; and
 WHEREAS, The Association of the United States Army has 122
 chapters worldwide, made up entirely of volunteers; they provide
 recreational and educational opportunities to soldiers and their
 families, support deployed soldiers and the families left
 behind, and have contributed over $2 million to awards,
 scholarships, and support of soldier and family programs; and
 WHEREAS, The Association of the United States Army speaks
 out for the men and women of the United States Army who proudly
 serve our country, and it promotes the values of excellence,
 innovation, professionalism, inclusiveness, integrity, and
 responsiveness; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
 Legislature, hereby recognize the Association of the United
 States Army and its visiting delegation from Texas, Oklahoma,
 Arkansas, and Louisiana and commend its members on the work they
 do in support of the military; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 the group as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
