SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 563 In Memory of Carl R. Coers III WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens of Fort Worth in mourning the loss of Dr. Carl R. "Dick" Coers III, who died March 9, 2013, at the age of 78; and WHEREAS, Dick Coers was born September 24, 1934, in Oxford, Mississippi; he earned his bachelor's and medical degrees from the University of Mississippi and completed his internship at The University of Texas Medical Branch and his general surgical residency at the University of Tennessee and John Gaston Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee; and WHEREAS, Dr. Coers chose plastic surgery as his field of specialization and completed his residency for the specialty at The University of Texas Medical Branch; he opened his medical practice in Fort Worth in 1967 and throughout his career provided the people of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex with individualized, quality health care; and WHEREAS, Dr. Coers was a staff member at numerous area hospitals and was active in many professional organizations, including the Texas Medical Association, the American Medical Association, and the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery; he was a diplomate of the American Board of Plastic Surgery and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and he generously offered his services as a volunteer at the Cook Children's Medical Center and the Gladney Center for Adoption; and WHEREAS, A man of wisdom, warmth, and kindness, he gave unselfishly to others, and his generous spirit and enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest will not be forgotten; and WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Dr. Carl R. Coers III; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Dr. Carl R. Coers III.
