SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 578 In Memory of Alex Taylor Olmsted WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas pays tribute to the life of Alex Taylor Olmsted, who died recently at the age of 18; and WHEREAS, Alex was a beloved scholar and athlete at Jefferson High School in San Antonio; a member of the senior class, he ran track for the school and was an offensive lineman on its football team; this exceptional young man will be missed for his intellect, his quick wit, and his easy smile; and WHEREAS, Alex was a member of the National Honor Society and was a National Hispanic Merit finalist; after interning at a law firm last summer, he had decided to become an attorney and had applied for college at Harvard University; he was one of the top 10 students in his graduating class; and WHEREAS, Although this outstanding student was taken at such a young age, he made a lasting impression on all those who knew him; his athletic talent was remarkable and his desire to accomplish great things in life inspired his family and friends alike, leaving a poignant legacy that will long be cherished; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Alex Taylor Olmsted; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Alex Olmsted.
