                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 59
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 recognize the members of the Daughters of the American Revolution
 on the founding of the organization's new chapter in Bosque
 County; and
 WHEREAS, The Daughters of the American Revolution was
 established in 1890 with headquarters in Washington, D.C.; it is
 a nonpolitical volunteer women's service organization, and its
 members devote thousands of hours annually to aiding veterans and
 to securing funding for scholarships to students and financial
 aid to underserved children; the organization is dedicated to
 promoting patriotism and preserving American history; and
 WHEREAS, Historical records indicate that settlement in
 Bosque County began in the mid-1800s, and each principal town was
 colonized along the Bosque River; the river was the lifeline of
 the settlers, whose survival depended on its water and the
 wildlife and timber that surrounded its banks; and
 WHEREAS, The Bosque County chapter of the Daughters of the
 American Revolution is being officially established with an
 organizational meeting and the installation of officers on
 February 2, 2013; the new chapter's officers are:  Sue Moore
 Fielden, organizing regent; Phyllis Alford Olson, vice regent;
 Therissa Crabtree Young, chaplain; Ruth Ann Nelson Crawford,
 recording secretary; MaryLynn Murphey Haynes, corresponding
 secretary; Ann Groom Lenz, treasurer; Naomi Young Nabors,
 registrar; Marilyn Maxwell Holland, historian; and Betty Urban
 Johannes, librarian; the organization's members have plans to
 preserve the rich history of Bosque County and to promote
 American patriotism and the study of American history among area
 citizens; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
 Legislature, hereby extend congratulations to the citizens of
 Bosque County on the opening of the new chapter of the Daughters of
 the American Revolution and commend the organization's members on
 their many contributions to our state; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
 honor of this event and as an expression of high regard from the
 Texas Senate.
