SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 593
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the Texas Water Smart Coalition; and
WHEREAS, The Texas Water Smart Coalition was formed to
promote voluntary outdoor water conservation so that consumers,
homeowners, and businesses can be a part of the solution in
securing Texas' most valuable resource; and
WHEREAS, Texas Water Smart is a public-private coalition of
state and local officeholders, businesses, associations, water
developers, and research organizations from across the state; and
WHEREAS, the coalition provides a consumer education
program of simple and cost-effective watering and gardening tips
for homes and businesses; and
WHEREAS, The consumer education program has been
successful in raising awareness about the need for water
conservation and reports a decrease in at-home water usage among
surveyed consumers; and
WHEREAS, The coalition looks forward to continued
collaboration and success in helping secure our water resources
for generations to come; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
83rd Legislature, hereby honor the Texas Water Smart Coalition
for its excellence in promoting consumer awareness and its
commitment to the preservation of our precious resource of water;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the coalition as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
