SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 600 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the Texas Computer Education Association and to proclaim April 4, 2013, as Educational Technology Day at the State Capitol; and WHEREAS, For more than three decades, the Texas Computer Education Association has assisted teachers, administrators, librarians, and other professionals as they explore new ways to use technology to enhance the educational process; and WHEREAS, This nonprofit organization has more than 15,000 members and is the largest state organization dedicated to the improvement of teaching and learning through the integration of technology into curriculum and instruction; and WHEREAS, Founded in 1980, it has been a consistent force in promoting the use of new media in educational environments from prekindergarten through 12th grade; it also provides educators opportunities to keep abreast of current trends in the computer and technology sectors; and WHEREAS, Members of the organization benefit from conferences, workshops, newsletters, and other forums, as well as more than 80 free professional development opportunities; the group's annual convention and exposition is the largest education technology convention in the state and is the second-largest one in the nation; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby commend the Texas Computer Education Association and extend best wishes for a productive and enjoyable Educational Technology Day at the State Capitol; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
