SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 630 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the Pharr Oratory of Saint Philip Neri School System on the occasion of its 30th anniversary; and WHEREAS, The first school of the Pharr Oratory of Saint Philip Neri School System was founded in 1983 in a home in Pharr by the religious community of the Pharr Oratory of Pontifical Right; the mission of the school system is to promote the formation of Christian character, Catholic lay leadership, and community service by integrating the gospel message with a liberal arts educational program in the spirit of joy of Saint Philip Neri; and WHEREAS, The system offers a dual-language education in an atmosphere rich in tradition, celebration, and history; its more than 700 students are taught by a dedicated faculty who work to instill in them a sense of pride and a lifelong love of learning; and WHEREAS, The system has adapted to the challenges of today's educational environment by instituting its own online distance education school through Texas Virtual Schools; it was recognized in 2010 with an award for Outstanding Commitment to Excellence and Innovation in Distance Education for an Organization; and WHEREAS, The Pharr Oratory of Saint Philip Neri School System has for 30 years played a profound role in helping students prepare for a complex and changing world, and it is truly deserving of recognition upon reaching this milestone in its history; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby commend the students, faculty, and staff of the Pharr Oratory of Saint Philip Neri School System on their commitment to excellence in education and extend to them best wishes on the occasion of the system's 30th anniversary; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the school system as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
