SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 647 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the Arguindegui Oil Company on its 2013 induction into the Junior Achievement of Laredo Business Hall of Fame; and WHEREAS, Junior Achievement of Laredo works in partnership with business leaders and educators to inspire young people and prepare them to succeed in today's complex global economy; and WHEREAS, Arguindegui Oil Company was founded in 1942 when Peter Arguindegui, Sr., was awarded the Continental Oil Company commission agency to serve Laredo and the surrounding area; despite the challenges of doing business during wartime, the company grew and prospered; and WHEREAS, Mr. Arguindegui's sons entered the family business after graduating from Texas A&M University, and in the early 1970s, they assumed leadership of the company; the third generation of the family began entering the business in 1986, and today, Arguindegui Oil Company continues to thrive and to play a vital role in the energy industry in Texas; and WHEREAS, Through the years, the company has reflected its founder's commitment to education by establishing scholarship endowments at Texas A&M University, Texas A&M International University, Laredo Community College, and each of the Laredo public high schools; it is truly worthy of induction into this prestigious body; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby commend the Arguindegui Oil Company on its enduring success and its many contributions to the community and extend congratulations to the Arguindegui family and all who are associated with the company on its induction into the Junior Achievement of Laredo Business Hall of Fame; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the company as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
