SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 665 WHEREAS, Joseph Stephen Rosenberger of Huntsville has earned a Congressional Award Gold Medal, and his outstanding achievement is being recognized on June 19, 2013, at a ceremony in Washington, D.C.; and WHEREAS, Bestowed by the United States Congress, this prestigious accolade honors young Americans who have completed 400 hours of voluntary public service, 200 hours of personal development, 200 hours of physical fitness, and a four-night, five-day expedition/exploration; and WHEREAS, An Eagle Scout, Mr. Rosenberger completed the rigorous requirements for the Congressional Award in the summer of 2011 while riding his bicycle across the United States from Yorktown, Virginia, to San Francisco, California; midway through his journey, he connected with a group biking to raise funds and awareness about multiple sclerosis, and he joined their cause; moreover, this summer he will participate in a 2,636-mile bike trek from Maine to Florida, which he helped organize and for which his team plans to raise $30,000 to benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society; and WHEREAS, By working to earn a Congressional Award Gold Medal, Stephen Rosenberger has demonstrated remarkable initiative and determination, as well as a steadfast commitment to serving his community, and he is truly a worthy role model for his fellow Texans; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby congratulate Joseph Stephen Rosenberger on earning a 2013 Congressional Award Gold Medal and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be prepared for Mr. Rosenberger as an expression of high regard by the Texas Senate.
