SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 692
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the members of the New Light Church in Dallas as they
celebrate the church's 10th anniversary on May 19, 2013; and
WHEREAS, Under the guidance of pastors Shaun and Marian
Rabb, this extraordinarily active congregation has flourished
and has shared its blessings with others in the Dallas
community; and
WHEREAS, The church has cultivated a variety of projects
that afford their recipients both spiritual and physical
sustenance; these include the provision of free school supplies
for local students, holiday food baskets for families in need,
visitations to the elderly, and the assembly of an Angel Tree,
which benefits the children of incarcerated parents; and
WHEREAS, Moreover, the pastors of New Light Church
continue to serve as outstanding role models; in addition to
their shared ministry, the Reverend Shaun Rabb works as a
television reporter in the Dallas area, and co-pastor Marian
Rabb serves as assistant chief of police for the City of
Duncanville and is the first African American woman to hold
that position; and
WHEREAS, With more than 300 active members, the New Light
Church is a shining example of the positive role that a devoted
and proactive congregation may serve in its community; the
church's members and pastors are indeed deserving of praise for
their steadfast commitment to their faith and their city; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
Legislature, hereby congratulate the members of the New Light
Church on the occasion of the church's 10th anniversary and
extend to those members sincere best wishes for all their future
endeavors; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the congregants of the New Light Church as an expression of high
regard from the Texas Senate.
