SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 701 In Memory of Charles L. Price III WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the sense of loss felt by the family and friends of United States Army Master Sergeant Charles L. Price III of Cameron, who died on August 12, 2011, at the age of 40; and WHEREAS, Assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, out of Fort Carson, Sergeant Price was killed while bravely serving his country in Afghanistan; and WHEREAS, The son of Grace Helen Price and Charles Price, Jr., Sergeant Price was born in Cameron on April 4, 1971, and attended C. H. Yoe High School, where he was a member of the football, basketball, baseball, and track teams; he joined the army in August 1989, soon after graduation, and in the years that followed he frequently saw service overseas; a veteran of the first Persian Gulf War, Sergeant Price also deployed for tours in the Balkans, Kuwait, Kosovo, and Iraq; this courageous soldier earned numerous awards and decorations, among them the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal, five Army Commendation Medals, nine Army Achievement Medals, seven Army Good Conduct Medals, and two National Defense Service Medals; and WHEREAS, Charles Price was the devoted husband of Helen Clark-Price, whom he married on March 7, 1995, and the proud father of seven children; and WHEREAS, Through his unfaltering devotion to duty, honor, and country, Charles Price upheld the highest ideals of the United States armed forces, and his fellow citizens owe him a lasting and immeasurable debt of gratitude; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Master Sergeant Charles L. Price III and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Helen Clark-Price; to his sons, Donavon Clark, Michael Clark, and Ra'Shawn Price; to his daughters, Lakrishia Price, Joshlyn Reynolds, Sha'meka Price, and Sha'niya Clark; to his mother, Grace Helen Price; to his grandsons, Dominick and Darrick Reynolds; to his brothers and sister-in-law, Lou Eric and Diahana Jerome and Marvin Charles Williams; to his sisters and brothers-in-law, Iperia and Shaun Flatt and Roshunda Price and Antonio Jenkins; to his mother-in-law, Emma Clark; to his father-in-law, Pervis Espree; to his stepfather-in-law, Donald Handy; to his sisters-in-law, Carla Clark and Danielle Handy; to his brothers-in-law, Robert, James, and Brian Clark; and to his many other relatives and friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Master Sergeant Charles L.
