SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 711
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Daniel Burlison, who was ordained into the ministry on
March 17, 2013; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Burlison grew up in De Leon, Texas, where he
attended First Christian Church; he enjoyed a long and fulfilling
career in the railroad industry, during the course of which he
and his family lived in Wichita Falls, Fort Worth, and several
communities in Nebraska; while living in Wichita Falls, he was
often called upon to preach at various churches; and
WHEREAS, After his retirement, Mr. Burlison and his wife
returned to Wichita Falls to help care for their parents and to be
closer to their families; they attended Fair Haven Baptist
Church, and Mr. Burlison served as a deacon and occasionally
filled in with preaching when the church's pastor was out of
town; and
WHEREAS, He was invited to preach at First Christian
Church, the church he had attended as a child, where he had also
been baptised; the congregation then asked him to become its
interim pastor; during this time in his life, he felt the call to
go into the ministry full-time, and the church offered him the
position of pastor; and
WHEREAS, He accepted the call to the ministry and the offer
to serve as pastor of First Christian Church; an inspirational
preacher and a man of great faith, he is certain to have a
profound impact on the lives of his congregation and his
community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
83rd Legislature, hereby commend Daniel Burlison on his many
achievements, congratulate him on his recent ordination, and extend
to him best wishes for success in the ministry; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
