SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 728 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to join the members of Brentwood Baptist Church as they celebrate 25 years of Scouting; and WHEREAS, Cub Scout Pack 1500 and Boy Scout Troop 500 were established at the church by Dr. Joe Samuel Ratliff in 1988, as part of the Sam Houston Area Council, which serves the Houston Independent School District; and WHEREAS, These hardworking Scouts are celebrating the 25th-anniversary occasion on June 15, 2013; during this special ceremony, the boys and young men of Cub Scout Pack 1500 and Boy Scout Troop 500 will be honored for their commitment to the principles of the Scout oath and promise; and WHEREAS, These future leaders have continuously given back to their community with their steadfast participation in numerous citywide charitable endeavors; most recently, they have volunteered their time and energy to assist local food banks and to help with neighborhood improvement projects; and WHEREAS, Over the years, Scouting has been a constant and positive force for the families and children of this region; to date, the Brentwood troop has produced 38 Eagle Scouts, and its members are indeed deserving of praise and recognition for their dedication to the betterment of their community; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby commend the members and leaders of Cub Scout Pack 1500 and Boy Scout Troop 500 on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Scouting at Brentwood Baptist Church; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for them as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
