SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 735
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Fort Worth residents Nancy and Roy Rimmer, who are
being honored as the recipients of the 2013 Opening Doors Leader
Award by the Mental Health Mental Retardation of Tarrant County
Visions Foundation on April 25, 2013; and
WHEREAS, This prestigious honor is given each year to a
person or a family in recognition of their vision, leadership,
and commitment to persons with disabilities; and
WHEREAS, Nancy and Roy Rimmer are being recognized for
their deep compassion for and support of homeless veterans and
people with intellectual and developmental disabilities; over
the years, they have regularly supported Mental Health Mental
Retardation of Tarrant County, the Visions Foundation, Liberty
House, Camp Summit, and the Make-a-Wish Foundation; and
WHEREAS, Not only have Mr. and Mrs. Rimmer donated their
own time and effort, they have passed down the tradition to their
children and grandchildren; each year at Christmas, the family
hosts the annual Liberty House holiday celebration and comes
together to decorate and deliver presents to the veterans who are
associated with Liberty House; and
WHEREAS, Nancy and Roy Rimmer dedicate their resources in a
wide variety of ways each year; they volunteer to host charity
events, work at golf tournament fund-raisers, and serve on
committees related to mental health issues, and their shared
sense of humanity and their generosity of spirit are deeply
appreciated within the mental health advocacy sector; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
83rd Legislature, hereby commend Nancy and Roy Rimmer on their
outstanding charitable efforts and congratulate them on being
named the recipients of the 2013 Opening Doors Leader Award by
the Mental Health Mental Retardation of Tarrant County Visions
Foundation; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
them as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
