                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 738
 In Memory
 of
 Pamela Hsiu Lo Day
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
 commemorates the life of Pamela Hsiu Lo Day, who died April 7,
 2013, at the age of 62; and
 WHEREAS, This adoptive Texan led an impressive and
 well-traveled life; she was born a British subject in Calcutta,
 India, on August 15, 1950, and her family moved to Hong Kong when
 she was 10 years old; and
 WHEREAS, Pamela was a student at the University of Hong
 Kong when she met her future husband, Wayne Day, in 1970; the
 couple married the following year at Grand Forks Air Force Base
 in North Dakota, and in the ensuing years, they were stationed
 overseas and lived in Turkey and the Philippines; and
 WHEREAS, The Day family returned to the United States in
 1976 and Pamela resumed her college education; she earned a
 bachelor's degree from Texas Wesleyan University and a master's
 degree from The University of Texas at Arlington; and
 WHEREAS, For the rest of her life, Pamela remained deeply
 committed to education, and she served in the Fort Worth
 Independent School District as an adult education aide, an
 elementary school teacher, and an assistant principal before
 becoming principal of Sam Rosen Elementary School; she later
 transferred to Charles Nash Elementary School, which achieved
 Exemplary status multiple times during her 13-year tenure; and
 WHEREAS, This much-loved educator was also revered outside
 the schoolhouse; she loved to laugh and play practical jokes, and
 she enjoyed operating her ham radio during her international
 travels; Pamela Day was profoundly devoted to her family, and she
 will long be remembered for her passion for life and her love of
 learning; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
 83rd Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
 bereaved family of Pamela Hsiu Lo Day; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the
 Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do
 so in memory of Pamela Day.
