SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 747
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Ruby Lee Martin Beebe on the grand occasion of her
100th birthday; and
WHEREAS, This exemplary lady is well known for her charm
and generosity of spirit, and she is a revered resident of our
state; and
WHEREAS, Ruby Beebe was born April 29, 1913, in Young County,
to Maggie and George Martin; she grew up with her six siblings and
had a rural life of homemaking, farming, raising livestock, and
gardening; she raised prizewinning chickens as a young girl and
was a standout basketball player in high school; and
WHEREAS, She married the late Paul R. Beebe in 1931; the
couple raised four children, Martin, Alice, Paul, and Claude,
who have been a source of much pride and joy; she has been blessed
with 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 29
great-great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, For many years, the family lived in company housing
in New Mexico as Mr. Beebe pursued his long and fruitful career with
El Paso Natural Gas; after his retirement, they bought their first
house in 1973, in Kermit, Texas, where they were active in the life
of their church and enjoyed the company of their many friends; Ruby
was famous for her cooking, and her German chocolate cake and
chocolate chip cookies have been the centerpiece of many
unforgettable family meals; and
WHEREAS, A beloved and respected member of her community,
Ruby Beebe is noted for her courage, her compassion for others,
and her enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
Legislature, hereby extend best wishes to Ruby Lee Martin Beebe
for a memorable 100th birthday celebration; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her as a memento of this milestone in her life.
