SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 761
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Mario Antonio Moreno, Jr., for his many outstanding
achievements in the field of law enforcement; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Moreno is currently assigned as a corporal to
the Texas Highway Patrol in Weslaco; he is a veteran of the United
States Marine Corps and served combat tours of duty in Iraq and
Afghanistan; among his decorations are the Navy and Marine Corps
Achievement Medal with "V" device and the National Defense Medal;
he continues to serve the nation as a member of the Marine Forces
Reserve; and
WHEREAS, A graduate of Weslaco High School and The
University of Texas--Pan American, he began his career in law
enforcement in 2003 as a patrolman with the San Benito Police
Department; he served for several years with the Weslaco Police
Department before joining the Texas Department of Public Safety
in 2008; and
WHEREAS, Over the course of his service as a state trooper,
he has received Captain's Awards for seatbelt enforcement,
driving while intoxicated enforcement, and commercial vehicle
enforcement, and he was named 2012 Trooper of the Year for
Highway Patrol District 3A; he was recognized by Mothers Against
Drunk Driving as the top arresting officer in Hidalgo County in
2010; and
WHEREAS, Corporal Moreno has handled the unique challenges
of law enforcement duty with courage and excellent judgment, and
it is truly fitting that he be recognized for his outstanding
service; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
Legislature, hereby commend Mario Antonio Moreno, Jr., for his
exemplary achievements in law enforcement and extend to him best
wishes for continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
