SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 787 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Michael Joseph Costello; and WHEREAS, Michael is a 2007 graduate of Northwest High School in Roanoke; he determined at a young age that he wanted to be a pilot and steadfastly pursued his goal; he attended Aviation Challenge camp and began taking flying lessons at the age of 13, earning each lesson by doing his chores and doing well in school; he earned his private pilot's license on his 16th birthday, the same day he received his driver's license; and WHEREAS, He attended Louisiana State University, where he was a member of the Air Force Reserve Officers' Training Corps and the Pershing Rifles military fraternity; during his junior year, he was awarded a slot as a pilot with the United States Air Force; he began undergraduate pilot training at Laughlin Air Force Base in March of 2012; and WHEREAS, He graduated on April 5, 2013, and was assigned to Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene, where he will receive training to fly the B-1 bomber; and WHEREAS, Michael is an outstanding young man whose patriotism and love of flying compelled him to enter military service, and he is deserving of recognition for his dedication and hard work; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby commend Michael Joseph Costello on his achievements and on his commitment to serving his country and extend to him best wishes for success as he embarks on his career as a United States Air Force pilot; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
