SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 79 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to join Texans across the state in celebrating January 30, 2013, as Texas Merchandise Vending Association Day; and WHEREAS, The Texas Merchandise Vending Association was founded in 1950 and is affiliated with the National Automatic Merchandising Association; its membership includes snack and beverage vending companies, office coffee services, brokers, distributors, and manufacturers; and WHEREAS, The association is dedicated to promoting the common business interests and general welfare of the automatic merchandising industry in Texas and to improving its service to the public; and WHEREAS, The vending industry in our state consists of more than 300 small businesses that employ more than 2,000 Texans, with more than 2,600 additional establishments operated by sole proprietors; these companies exemplify the Texas values of hard work, ingenuity, and good business practices; and WHEREAS, This vital industry provides the working men and women of our state with a wide variety of such products as hot and cold beverages, sandwiches, candy, and other food products; it is truly fitting that the members of this association be recognized for their many achievements and their contributions to our state's economy; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby commend the Texas Merchandise Vending Association on its commitment to serving our state and extend to its members best wishes for a successful and memorable Texas Merchandise Vending Association Day; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in honor of this special occasion.
