SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 796 In Memory of Nicholas Antonio Benavides WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens of Brownsville in mourning the untimely loss of Nicholas Antonio Benavides, who died March 9, 2013, at the age of 20; and WHEREAS, Nico Benavides was born April 28, 1992, in Frankfurt, Germany; he grew up in Brownsville and was a 2010 graduate of James Pace High School; and WHEREAS, Nico enjoyed sports and such outdoor activities as fishing; his true passion, however, was playing basketball, and he took great pleasure in rooting for his favorite team, the Miami Heat; and WHEREAS, Nico was known for his generous spirit and his bigheartedness; he was a source of strength and joy to his family and friends, and even in death, he made a difference in the lives of others through his gift of life; and WHEREAS, He was a young man of courage and determination who was always ready to lend a helping hand, and his sense of humor and his enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest will not be forgotten; and WHEREAS, He was a devoted son, brother, and grandson, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Nicholas Antonio Benavides; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Nicholas Benavides.
