SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 851 In Memory of Gary Lynn Shaner WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and commemorates the life of Gary Lynn Shaner, who died April 9, 2013, at the age of 66; and WHEREAS, Gary Shaner was born November 18, 1946, to Lois and Warren Shaner in San Antonio; he was a 1965 graduate of Lee High School; and WHEREAS, Shortly after his high school graduation, Mr. Shaner completed the Plumbers and Pipefitters Apprenticeship Program and embarked on a fulfilling career of more than 45 years in the field; he joined Local 142 of his union in 1970 and was respected and admired by his fellow tradesmen for his exceptional work ethic and his many achievements; and WHEREAS, He was an avid outdoorsman who treasured the time he spent with family and friends at his deer lease; he was also an accomplished amateur photographer whose photos from family reunions are cherished mementos; and WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and compassion, he gave generously to others, and his wisdom, warmth, and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew him; and WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family and countless friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Gary Lynn Shaner; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Gary Lynn Shaner.
