SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 860 In Memory of Harold Raley Dunn WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the residents of Fort Worth in mourning the loss of Colonel Harold Raley Dunn, who died March 29, 2013, at the age of 91; and WHEREAS, This exemplary patriot spent much of his life serving his country, and over the years, his unwavering sense of duty and his superior military service inspired many of the young soldiers who reported to him; and WHEREAS, Born January 22, 1922, in Dallas, Harold Raley Dunn graduated from Terrell High School; during his senior year at Texas Christian University, the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, and he left school to join the United States Army; over the next 33 years of military service, he held many command, staff, and advisory positions and attained the rank of colonel; he also found time to resume his education and graduate from George Washington University; and WHEREAS, Colonel Dunn's military career spanned World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War, and he was awarded the Bronze Star and the Legion of Merit for his exceptionally meritorious service; while he was stationed in Europe, he met and married the love of his life, Mary, and the couple raised two children and shared 64 years together; and WHEREAS, This exceptional gentleman and dedicated soldier was proud of his military service and took great pleasure in seeing the young soldiers with whom he served achieve success in their careers; he was devoted to his family and was noted for his abiding courage and integrity, and he leaves behind memories that will long be remembered and cherished by all those who knew him; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Colonel Harold Raley Dunn; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Colonel Harold Raley Dunn.
