                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 868
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 recognize the Texas Foster Family Association and to join its
 members and Texans across the state in observing May as National
 Foster Care Month in Texas; and
 WHEREAS, The Texas Foster Family Association works to
 motivate, educate, and support foster, adoptive, and kinship
 families in the state; and
 WHEREAS, Guided by a belief in the intrinsic value of
 children's lives and the importance of family bonds, the
 association works to help foster parents and kinship caregivers
 break the cycle of abuse and neglect often faced by children from
 broken homes; and
 WHEREAS, The association works to ensure that foster
 children have the same opportunities as other children to enjoy
 recreational and social activities in a stable family
 environment; and
 WHEREAS, The Texas Foster Family Association serves as a
 dynamic advocate for foster families and the children they
 support through its work in promoting public policy on this
 important issue; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
 83rd Legislature, hereby commend the Texas Foster Family Association
 on its exemplary efforts to improve the lives of children in foster
 care and extend to its members best wishes for a productive National
 Foster Care Month in Texas; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 the association as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
