H.R. No. 117
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Family-owned restaurants add charm and diversity to
the communities of the Lone Star State, and the Simicia family's
Athenian Bar and Grill in Austin is celebrating its first five years
on July 22, 2013; and
WHEREAS, A native of Tirana, Albania, owner Anil Simicia
moved to Louisiana in 1997, and five years later, he came to Texas;
he started Zorba Greek Restaurant in Round Rock in 2002, and in 2004
he brought the tastes of the Mediterranean to downtown Austin when
he opened the Athenian Grill on Seventh Street; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Simicia relocated his business to Sixth Street
in 2008; now known as the Athenian Bar and Grill, the larger
restaurant features such traditional Greek classics as dolmades,
tzatziki, and gyro sandwiches, as well as other popular
Mediterranean fare; and
WHEREAS, For five years, Anil and his wife, Gledis, have been
delighting Austin's diners with the joys of Greek cuisine, and they
may indeed take great pride in their contribution to the Austin
culinary community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commemorate the fifth
anniversary of the Athenian Bar and Grill and extend sincere best
wishes to Anil and Gledis Simicia and their staff for continued
success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Simicia as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
