H.R. No. 120 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends of Wallace Daryl Williams, who passed away on May 30, 2013, at the age of 62; and WHEREAS, Born in Fort Worth on December 24, 1950, to Roy and Myrtle Manley Williams, Mr. Williams graduated from R. L. Paschal High School in 1971 and earned a bachelor's degree in political science and sociology from Texas A&M University--Commerce; following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served until he was honorably discharged in 1979; he subsequently joined the U.S. Air Force Reserve and served until 1983; and WHEREAS, A certified teacher, Mr. Williams was employed by the Fort Worth Independent School District from 1979 until his death; he also worked as a legislative aide to former State Representative Garfield Thompson; active in politics at the local and state levels, he served as president of the Fort Worth Chapter of the Texas Coalition of Black Democrats, as a Tarrant County Steering Committee member for Barack Obama's presidential campaign, as a precinct chair and as financial secretary to the Tarrant County Precinct Workers Council, and as a delegate to the Texas State Democratic Party Convention; and WHEREAS, Mr. Williams was a charter member of his undergraduate chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity; he was also a life member of the fraternity, a member of multiple alumni chapters, and a representative to the Tarrant County Pan-Hellenic Council; he belonged to New Fellowship Baptist Church and sang in its male chorus; and WHEREAS, While his death brings immeasurable sorrow to his loved ones, Wallace Williams leaves behind a legacy that will long be treasured by all those who held him dear; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Wallace Daryl Williams and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his mother, Myrtle Manley; to his aunts, Mildred Rolla, Nadine Hobbs and her husband, Lacy, Bobbie Johnson, and Dorothy Taylor and her husband, Elbert; to his uncle, Milton Amie; to his special friend and fraternity brother, T. A. Sims; to his godsister, Jackie Spinks; and to his other relatives, Kappa Alpha Psi brothers, and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Wallace Daryl Williams.
