 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Andrew Barnett of El Paso has scored a perfect 800 on
 the math section of the SAT, and this rare feat is indeed deserving
 of recognition; and
 WHEREAS, A student at Hornedo Middle School, Andrew is just
 12 years old, and he took the SAT as part of the application process
 for the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth, an international
 program that identifies gifted young people; of the 10,000 students
 who applied to the center this year, he was one of only nine to earn
 a perfect score on the math section; he will be honored by the
 center for his achievement in August 2013; and
 WHEREAS, Andrew Barnett is a member of the math team at his
 middle school and has won more than 30 medals and trophies in math
 competitions; he also enjoys reading, fencing, and tae kwon do, a
 sport in which he has earned a black belt; and
 WHEREAS, This remarkable youth has demonstrated initiative
 and maturity in pursuing his goals, and he is a source of great
 pride to his family and his community; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
 Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Andrew
 Barnett on attaining a perfect score on the math portion of the SAT
 and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be
 it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Andrew Barnett as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
