 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Ana Karina Martinez graduated as valedictorian of
 the senior class of Lyford High School on June 7, 2013; and
 WHEREAS, Born in Queretaro, Mexico, Ms. Martinez immigrated
 with her parents and became a naturalized citizen of the United
 States; she has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to
 excellence, taking the most challenging courses and frequently
 giving up her lunch hour to work on assignments at the library,
 since her family did not have Internet access at home; bilingual in
 Spanish and English, she has also studied Korean in order to broaden
 her horizons; and
 WHEREAS, Ms. Martinez participated in the GOLD Youth
 Leadership Seminar and Generation Texas, and she was named a
 QuestBridge Scholar and a National Security Language Initiative for
 Youth semifinalist; in addition, she received the Excellence Award
 in Communications from Texas State Technical College; a member of
 the National Honor Society, she served as community service chair
 for the Lyford High chapter; she is also an active member of Prince
 of Peace Catholic Church, where she is a Sunday school teacher's
 aide and serves in the technology and liturgy ministries; and
 WHEREAS, Headed to Wellesley College, Ms. Martinez intends to
 major in international economics and finance and is interested in
 pursuing a career in corporate law; her accomplishments are a
 source of great pride to her parents and teachers, and her
 exceptional scholastic ability, diligence, and determination have
 opened the way to limitless opportunities for this remarkable young
 Texan; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
 Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Ana Karina
 Martinez, valedictorian of the Lyford High School Class of 2013,
 and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success as she
 begins the next exciting chapter of her life; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Ms. Martinez as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
