 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Emily Collins graduated as salutatorian of the 2013
 senior class of Pleasanton High School; and
 WHEREAS, Earning the title of salutatorian requires not only
 intellect and aptitude, but also four years of dedication to the
 highest academic standards; the student who garners this coveted
 distinction must demonstrate a thorough understanding of a wide
 range of subjects, yet the rewards of the countless hours of study
 and preparation are myriad; and
 WHEREAS, Outside of school, Ms. Collins has shared her time
 and energy as a volunteer with the local humane society and with a
 summer reading program for children; in addition, she assisted at a
 soup kitchen and performed at a concert benefiting the homeless;
 she plans to study journalism at The University of Texas at Austin;
 and
 WHEREAS, Throughout her academic career, Emily Collins has
 earned the respect and admiration of her teachers and classmates at
 Pleasanton High, and her exceptional scholastic ability, hard work,
 and commitment to excellence have opened the way to limitless
 opportunities for this remarkable young Texan; now, therefore, be
 it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
 Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Emily
 Collins, salutatorian of the Pleasanton High School Class of 2013,
 and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success as she
 begins the next exciting chapter of her life; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for Ms. Collins as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
