 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the untimely death
 of Billy Joe Weiss of Brenham, who passed away on June 3, 2013, at
 the age of 49; and
 WHEREAS, Bill Weiss was born in Brenham on February 24, 1964,
 to Edwin and Edna Weiss; after graduating from Brenham High School
 in 1982, he attended Blinn College and earned a bachelor's degree in
 marketing from Texas A&M University in 1986; and
 WHEREAS, For the first decade of his career, Mr. Weiss worked
 for two department stores, first Joske's and then Dillard's, where
 he was a manager; in 1997, he returned to Brenham and went to work as
 a media buyer for Blue Bell Creameries, rising to corporate media
 relations manager in 2003; he served as chair of the company's
 centennial celebration, and in 2012, he became advertising and
 public relations manager; and
 WHEREAS, In addition to his professional achievements,
 Mr. Weiss served his community as president of the Brenham Noon
 Lions Club and the Washington County A&M Club; he was also active in
 such worthy organizations as the 12th Man Foundation, the
 Washington County Chamber of Commerce, and Leadership Washington
 County, and he supported the Putt 2 Cure MS mini-golf tournament and
 the Blue Bell Fun Run; and
 WHEREAS, A man of strong religious faith, Mr. Weiss was a
 valued member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, and he contributed his
 time and resources to the Brazos Valley Fellowship of Christian
 Athletes and Brazos Valley Young Life; and
 WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan enjoyed a quarter-century of
 marriage to Kathleen Goessler, and together they were blessed with
 a son, Erik, and a daughter, Rachel; and
 WHEREAS, Bill Weiss loved hunting, going to Jimmy Buffett
 concerts, fishing at Rockport, and following the fortunes of his
 beloved Aggies, and he especially treasured spending time with his
 family and friends; although his life ended far too soon, memories
 of his warmth, good humor, and bright smile will remain to comfort
 and inspire all those he leaves behind; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
 Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
 Billy Joe Weiss and extend sincere condolences to the members of his
 family: to his wife, Kathleen Weiss; to his son, Erik Weiss; to his
 daughter, Rachel Weiss; to his parents, Edna and Edwin Weiss, Jr.;
 to his parents-in-law, Kenneth and Esther Goessler; to his siblings
 and their spouses, Bonnie and Mike Brinkmeyer, Debbie and Ken Von
 Gonten, Rick and Leslie Weiss, Lois and Wayne Wilhelm, and Lori
 Benn; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it
 further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Billy Joe
 Weiss.
