 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever treasure their
 memories of Lee Len Clardy of Suwanee, Georgia, who died on February
 14, 2013, at the age of 95; and
 WHEREAS, Lee Clardy was born in Zephyr, Texas, on December 9,
 1917, to Ernest and Beulah Clardy, and he grew up in nearby
 Brownwood, where he was admired for his leadership abilities and
 his skill at sports and singing; after attending John Tarleton
 College, he earned his bachelor's degree at The University of Texas
 and subsequently returned to Tarleton to take a position as dean of
 men; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Clardy answered his nation's call to duty during
 World War II and joined the U.S. Navy; serving as a gunnery officer
 on the USS Arkansas, he saw action in three of the most important
 invasions of the war, in Normandy and on the islands of Okinawa and
 Iwo Jima; and
 WHEREAS, Following his military service, Mr. Clardy embarked
 on a career in human resources with his employment by the P. H.
 Glatfelter Company in Spring Grove, Pennsylvania; returning to
 Texas, he went to work for the Champion Paper Company in Houston
 until he was transferred to Dunwoody, Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta,
 in 1970; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Clardy was active in his community and was a
 valued member of the Dunwoody United Methodist Church and the Rose
 Society; he remained proud of his service to his country, and he
 often dressed in his Navy uniform to share his experiences at school
 assemblies; and
 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Clardy enjoyed the love
 and support of his wife, the former Julia Barnes from Brownwood,
 with whom he shared 64 rewarding years; he also took great pride in
 their children, Alan and Janet; and
 WHEREAS, Devoted to his family and his faith, Lee Clardy was
 an optimistic and outgoing man who delighted in sharing his robust
 sense of humor, and the generosity with which he lived his life will
 forever inspire all who had the good fortune to know him; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
 Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
 Lee Len Clardy and extend sincere condolences to the members of his
 family: to his son, Alan Clardy, and his wife, Allison; to his
 daughter, Janet Clardy Hellman, and her husband, Jon; to his
 grandchildren, Glenn, Alexis, Eric, Greg, and Julia; and to his
 other relatives and friends; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Lee Len
 Clardy.
