 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The Douglass High School boys' basketball team
 enjoyed an outstanding 2012-2013 season, advancing all the way to
 the University Interscholastic League 1A Division 2 state
 championship game on March 9 at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin;
 and
 WHEREAS, Guided by head coach Mark Leuschner, the Indians
 compiled a stellar record of 30 wins to just 7 defeats; their
 thrilling run through the postseason included victories over
 Fayetteville, Calvert, Menard, and Oakwood High Schools to advance
 to the state tournament for the first time in school history; in the
 semifinals, they once again demonstrated their stout defense and
 productive scoring attack, and the team's commanding 53-44 triumph
 over Water Valley earned Douglass a place in the title contest; and
 WHEREAS, Squaring off against Roxton with the state crown
 hanging in the balance, the Indians put forth a valiant effort
 behind the 45 combined points of brothers Reed and Bryce Westbrook
 but ultimately fell by a score of 60-54; and
 WHEREAS, The dedicated student-athletes of the Douglass High
 basketball team proved themselves one of the top 1A squads in Texas
 during 2013, and they may reflect with pride on their notable
 accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
 Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate the Douglass
 High School boys' basketball team on reaching the UIL 1A Division 2
 state championship game and extend to the team's players and
 coaching staff sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be
 it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
