                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 104
 In Memory
 of
 Frank Wesley Greenhaw
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
 citizens of Mesquite in mourning the loss of Frank Wesley
 Greenhaw, who died June 4, 2013, at the age of 89; and
 WHEREAS, This distinguished businessman, lay minister,
 musician, and civic leader was respected and admired for his many
 achievements and for the prominent role he played in the life of
 his community; and
 WHEREAS,
 Class of '41 March
 WHEREAS, He was chief executive officer of
 McWhorter-Greenhaw, the longest-running retail establishment in
 Mesquite's history, and in 1990 was named president of the
 National Retail Hardware Association; his company was named
 Baylor University Family Business of the Year in 1995; and
 WHEREAS, A devout Christian who practiced his faith in his
 daily life, Mr. Greenhaw served as director of music at United
 Methodist Church of Mesquite for nearly 40 years; in 1969, he was
 elected Conference Lay Leader, the top lay leadership position in
 the United Methodist Church; and
 WHEREAS, He was a longtime brass player for the Grammy
 Award-winning Light Crust Doughboys; he was a prolific
 songwriter and also served for a time as the band and choral
 director at Mesquite High School; and
 WHEREAS, His contributions to the community included many
 years of service as president of the Mesquite Independent School
 District Board of Trustees; he served as a director for several
 area banks and for the Mesquite Chamber of Commerce, and he was a
 founding committee member of the Dallas County Community College
 District; and
 WHEREAS, A man of principle, integrity, and courage, he
 gave generously to others, and his wisdom, warmth, and valued
 counsel will not be forgotten by those who were privileged to
 share in his life; and
 WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband and father, and he leaves
 behind memories that will be cherished forever by his family and
 countless friends; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
 Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby extend sincere
 condolences to the bereaved family of Frank Wesley Greenhaw; and,
 be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
 Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
 memory of Frank Wesley Greenhaw.
