                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 105
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 recognize Rickey L. Eddie for the pivotal role he played in the
 establishment of the University of North Texas at Dallas; and
 WHEREAS, Rickey Eddie was a member of the original staff of
 the University of North Texas System Center at Dallas; over the
 course of his 12-year tenure, he contributed greatly to the
 university's development into the institution it is today; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Eddie created and implemented the policies
 that continue to serve as the foundation for the university's
 Financial Aid Department; while serving as student services
 coordinator for the areas of financial aid, scholarships, and
 veteran affairs, he was instrumental in crafting successful
 community outreach partnerships and in working with the Dallas
 County Community College District to raise awareness of the
 Complete the Dream scholarship program; and
 WHEREAS, He was the original student liaison and visited
 schools, churches, and other organizations to recruit students
 to the campus; he also initiated the University of North Texas at
 Dallas Financial Aid and Scholarship Awareness Day, which
 annually brings hundreds of high school students to the campus
 for informational workshops and hands-on assistance with federal
 financial aid forms; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Eddie has also been active in a variety of
 community organizations and has received numerous commendations
 for his work, including the In the House Award from the Dallas
 Housing Authority and the Jack and Jill of America Public
 Services Award; he is truly deserving of recognition for his
 outstanding achievements; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
 Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Rickey L. Eddie
 on his exemplary efforts in the development of the University of
 North Texas at Dallas and extend to him best wishes for continued
 success in all his endeavors; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
